Join the Dunbar Literary Society Book Club for our next read: R.F. Kuang’s Babel, or the Necessity of Violence!
Babel, or the Necessity of Violence by R.F. Kuang is a historical fantasy blending dark academia with themes of colonialism, language, power, and resistance. Set in an alternate 19th-century Oxford, it follows Robin Swift, a Chinese orphan studying magical translation at Babel. As he uncovers the empire’s exploitation of language, he must choose between complicity and rebellion.
Don't miss out—come read with us and join the discussion! We will have limited copies of the book available for checkout at our library, so come grab your copy at the front desk! All are welcome—whether you're a lifelong reader or new to book clubs, we can't wait to share this literary journey with you
