Films shown at the Otis Laury Nutritional Literacy Food Film Festival are intended to be family friendly, but many are not rated and some may have occasional strong language.

The film schedule is as follows:

August 7 - The Pollinators

A cinematic journey around the United States following migratory beekeepers and their truckloads of honey bees as they pollinate the flowers that become the fruits, nuts and vegetables we all eat. The many challenges the beekeepers and their bees face en route reveal flaws to our simplified chemically dependent agriculture system. We talk to farmers, scientists, chefs and academics along the way to give a broad perspective about the threats to honey bees, what it means to our food security and how we can improve it.

August 14 - Seed: The Untold Story

Follows passionate seed-keepers protecting our 12,000 year-old food legacy. These farmers, scientists, lawyers and indigenous people are fighting a David and Goliath battle to defend the future of our food. In a harrowing and heartening story, these heroes rekindle a lost connection to our most treasured resource and revive a culture connected to seeds.

August 21 - Somm: A Tasteful Sip into the World of Master Sommeliers

The Court of Master Sommeliers is one of the world's most prestigious and exclusive organizations. Since its inception, fewer than 200 candidates have reached the exalted Master level. The Master Sommelier Exam covers every nuance of the world of wine. Those who have passed have put their sanity at risk to pull it off.

Shrouded in secrecy, access to the Court has always been strictly regulated and cameras have been forbidden to be anywhere near the exam… until now. SOMM takes the viewer on a humorous, emotional and illuminating look into the mysterious world of the Court of Master Sommeliers and their massively intimidating Master Sommelier Exam.
