Piano Etiquette

The piano is available for thirty (30) minute sessions by reservation only Mondays from 4 pm – 6 pm. Sessions are limited to six open reservations at a time. Reservations must be made at least one week in advance but not more than six (6) months in advance.

Out of consideration for all patrons, please follow these library policies:

• Library staff reserves the right to restrict use, or ask to stop playing the piano, at any time.
• The piano is not to be used for practice.
• Performer must have familiarity with the piece.
• Piece must be performed all the way through and not repetitively.
• Remember, the piece should be pleasant background music.
• No “Chopsticks”, playing loud, or playing with force.
• No singing or accompaniment to the piano piece.
• Be aware that there are other library patrons and staff who need to concentrate on other things.
• If tutors are present, the piano will be unavailable, regardless of the appointment time.
• Use of the piano is a privilege, not a right.
