The Advisory Board, for the St. Albans Branch Library, is proud to present St Albans Writes...a monthly speaker series featuring local authors.  John Kincaid wrote five “disconnected” books in the 1990s, and thought his writing days were finished. Then more recently, his discussions with his granddaughter, Lylah, led to a book, Conversations with a Two-Year-Old, a celebration of the miracles of language and personality. During the Great COVID Lockdown, he produced five more books, mostly homespun fiction about life (and paranormal life) in West Virginia, Stranger Stories (A novel set in WV in 1961 with some paranormal twists), Tall Tales, True Stories and Outright Lies (mountaineer-style storytelling), Terrible Poems about Wonderful Things in West Virginia (more mountaineer storytelling in poems and vignettes), Christmas Seasoning (real-life Christmas short stories), Reflections of a Spiritual Journey (Bible essays), and Conversations With a Married Woman (all of the humor in marriage rolled up into one book).

Kincaid’s stories reflect an Appalachian heritage that goes back six generations to the early 1800’s, and his writing style may well be influenced by the fact that his great-great-great-grandparents lived in a hollow sycamore tree for many years. Later, they founded the little hamlet of Kincaid, WV, where John lived as a child.  John is a retired IT specialist from Union Carbide and EDS. He has a degree in math and physics and a master’s degree from seminary school.

Question & Answer session and book signing will follow.
