Event Details
Join the Kanawha County Master Gardeners for their virtual public education fall event, Fall Into Gardening. The library will be connecting to this event via Zoom and all speakers will be presenting remotely. Participants who wish to attend in-person are free to drop-in anytime during the program.
Speakers for this event include:
Eden Clymire-Stern, Extension Educator at WV State University, explains the science behind fall color change and how to select a tree for fall color.
John Porter, extension program leader for statewide Horticulture, Landscape, and Environmental Systems program area, as well as the urban agriculture extension educator for the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, speaks on preparing gardens for winter, with a focus on fruits and vegetables.
Lewis Jett, WVU Extension Specialist – Commercial Horticulture, presents a talk on winter vegetables.
Keynote speaker Philip Smith, Executive Director for the WV Botanic Garden in Morgantown, West Virginia, will take participants on a virtual visit to the Botanic Garden.
The West Virginia University Extension Master Gardener Program is a volunteer educational program meeting the horticultural needs of everyday West Virginians. The program trains volunteers, utilizing their expertise to teach others more about plants, their culture, their importance to the environment and to our quality of life.

Main Library Patrons with strollers, wheelchairs, or other wheeled devices will find it easier to use the Jacobson Tower entrance on Quarrier Street or the Skybridge entrance via Summers Street Garage.
