Event Details

Join us in September for our Freedom to Read Challenge! This challenge is only available for virtual participation on Beanstack.

Freedom to Read Week, also commonly known as Banned Books Week, will be celebrated Sept. 22-28, 2024. We challenge you to read one book this month that is on the American Library Association's challenged books list.

The ALA keeps data on the most challenged books of the year, starting in 1990 and ending in 2023. Find the ALA's most recent and archived data on censorship and challenged books here: https://bit.ly/45ffBkd

Participants who earn the completion badge for this challenge may visit the Main Library to pick-up a KCPL coffee mug as their completion prize. A limited number of prizes will be available at branch library locations.
