Program Description
Event Details
With the increased interest in upcycling, visible mending has become a popular way to avoid sending worn or torn items to a landfill. Visible mending is a creative option to repair clothing and other fabric goods. Instead of trying to hide or cover the damage, the goal is to highlight these imperfections in a creative, eye-catching way. Charleston seamstress and artists, Katherine Schipke will discuss a varirty of tools and supplies that can be used. She will also share her techniques and demonstrate two simple stitches that we can use to upgrade our wardrobe and household items. If you have a damaged piece of clothing, bring it to practice on. We will also have plenty of fabrics, threads and needles for you to practice with. Registration is required and begin June 15.
